Woolly-necked Stork

Scientific Name: Ciconia episcopus
Common Name: Woolly-necked Stork
Other Name: White-necked stork, White-headed Stork, Bishop Stork, Parson-bird

Identifying Features: white neck, black body, black cap, white lower belly, blackish beak

Fun Facts:

  • This species is largely seen as single birds, in pairs, or in small family groups of 4–5, and flocks are uncommon.
  •  In India, nests are increasingly being observed in urban areas on cell phone towers.
