Red-necked Falcon

Common Name: Red-necked Falcon
Other Name: Red-headed merlin

Identifying Features: bluish grey wings and upper body, chestnut red cap, short chin straps passing through the eye, yellow legs, yellow eye-ring

Fun Facts:

  • In India, the female is called turumti and the male as chatwa.
  • They hunt in pairs mostly at dawn and dusk, capturing small birds, bats and squirrels.
  • They fly with a fast and dashing flight.
