Identifying Features: small bird (around 21 centimeter), upper parts are grey-brown, underparts are white and streaked with brown, heavily spotted in white, yellow eyes
Fun Facts:
- Culturally owls have been associated with bad omens.
- In Hindu mythology, the owl is a vahan (mode of transport) of Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth.
- The social organization of family groups is not clear and multiple males may copulate with a female and females may attempt pseudocopulation.
