Scientific Name: Streptopelia tranquebarica Common Name: Red Collared Dove Other Name: Red turtle dove
Identifying Features: male has bluish head, light red-brown body, black ring around neck; female is similar but pinkish all over.
Fun Facts:
- It is the most common dove throughout Punjab.
- It is a summer migrant visitor to India. When they first arrive they are often in small flocks, but they soon split up and start pair formation and breeding.
