Common Name: Plum-headed Parakeet

Identifying Features:pinkish purple head in males, grey head in females, tail are bluish-green, green body, yellow-orange beak, small red patch on side wings

Fun Facts:

  • It is endemic to the Indian Subcontinent.
  • The plum-headed parakeet is a gregarious and noisy species.
  • They feed on grains, fruits, the fleshy petals of flowers (SalmaliaButea) and sometimes raid agricultural fields and orchards.
