Common Name: Greater Coucal, Crow Pheasant
Other Name: Mahok, Bharadwaj, Kali Kaka, Uppan, Kamadi Kukkar

Identifying Features: black color, chestnut brown wings, red eyes, black head, long tail

Fun Facts:

  • Greater Coucals are known as non-parasitic cuckoos because unlike Cuckoos they raise their own chicks.
  • The are also known for eating birds’ eggs and nestlings.
