Black-necked Stork

Scientific Name: Dicrurus macrocercus
Common Name: Black-necked Stork
Other Name: Jabiru

Identifying Features: iridescent neck, yellow and brown eyes, black head, long black beak, red legs

Fun Facts:

  • Pairs of Black-necked Storks form life long bonds and remain together even during the non-breeding season.
  • They are very sensitive to human induced impacts such as destruction of marine vegetation and alteration of water levels.
