Common Name: Yellow Bittern

Identifying Features: yellow brown upper-parts, buff underparts, blackish crown, female has streaked neck, head and crown

Fun Facts:

  • They can be difficult to see, given their skulking lifestyle and reed bed habitat, but tend to fly fairly frequently.
  • Yellow bitterns feed on insects, fish and amphibians.
