Sykess Nightjar

Scientific Name: Caprimulgus mahrattensis
Common Name: Sykes's Nightjar
Other Name: Sindh nightjar

Identifying Features: small bird, short tail, pale grey body, fine black barring on tail, black spots on the upperparts, rust-colored spots on the wings.

Fun Facts:

  • The name commemorates Colonel William Henry Sykes, who served with the British military in India.
  • It is nocturnal. Inhabits dry and arid scrub and grasslands.
