Ruddy-breasted Crake

Scientific Name: Porzana fusca 
Common Name: Ruddy-breasted Crake, Ruddy crake

Identifying Features: dark brown back, reddish-brown head, red eyes and legs, long toes, short tail

Fun Facts:

  • They are territorial, but are quite secretive, hiding amongst grassy shrubs and bushes when disturbed.
  • These birds probe in mud or shallow water.
