Mistle Thrush

Scientific Name: Turdus viscivorus
Common Name: Mistle Thrush

Identifying Features: grey-brown upper parts, greyish-white chin and throat, black spots on pale yellow and off-white under parts

Fun Facts:

  • They are monogamous and stay as a pair throughout the year in areas where they are not migratory.
  • Courtship feeding of the female by her partner has sometimes been observed.
  • Mistle thrushes feed mainly on invertebrates, fruit and berries.
