Scientific Name: Lanius schach
Common Names: Long-tailed Shrike, Rufous-backed Shrike
Other Name: Latora

Identifying Features: black stout hooked beak, black legs, black forehead, grey head, rufous rump and underparts, black eye covert

Fun Facts:

  • They have subspecies found in Himalayan ranges which are known as black-headed shrikes.
  • They have resemblance to grey shrikes such as the Southern Grey Shrike having pearl grey head and black coloured eye covert and ear coverts.
