Common Name: Darter, Oriental Darter
Other Name: Pan Dubi, Snakebird, Indian Darter

Identifying Features: snake-like long neck, water bird, long neck, black body, blackish-brown head, white-striped feathers, black legs, yellow eyes and beak, dagger-like beak

Fun Facts:

  • Darter swims so low in the water that sometimes only his head and upper neck are visible.
  • Darter usually carry its heads in a characteristic ‘Z’ shaped posture.
