Pallass Gull

Scientific Name: Larus ichthyaetus
Common Name: Pallas's Gull
Other Name: Great black-headed gull

Identifying Features: yellow legs, black head, grey wings, orangey-yellow beak with red tip, grey back

Fun Facts:

  • It is third largest species of gull in the world, after the great black-backed gull and the glaucous gull.
  • Although they are noisy at colonies, Pallas’s gulls are mostly silent when breeding. These birds are predatory, taking fish, crustaceans, insects and even small mammals.
