Identifying Features: brown upperparts, white breast, golden-brown iris, white head, dark mask around eyes, whitish feet, black beak

Fun Facts: 

  • In Buddhism, the osprey is sometimes represented as the “King of Birds”.
  • Ospreys usually mate for life. Rarely, polyandry has been recorded. It breeds near freshwater lakes and rivers, and sometimes on coastal brackish waters.
