Lesser White-fronted Goose

Scientific Name: Anser erythropus
Common Name: Lesser White-fronted Goose


Identifying Features: Conspicuous white face, broad black bars which cross the belly, yellow eye-ring, white facial blaze goes up to the crown.

Fun Facts:

  •  Inspired Sir Peter Scott to set up The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT).
  • Considered an endangered species, but there are programmes to reintroduce animals into the wild to strengthen the population.
