Scientific Name: Lonchura malacca
Common Name: Black-headed Munia
Other Names: Tricolor nun, Mannikin

Identifying Features: Chestnut plumage, black head, black throat, conical beak, light – white beak, blackish legs

Fun Facts:

  • Black-headed Munias have large conical beaks, highly adapted for eating grass seeds.
  • They have ball shaped nests made out of dried grass on ground.
